It is with great sorrow that I announce the death of Dr. Meridithe Mendelsohn, PhD, on March 14, 2025, co-founder of this website.

Meridithe Mendelsohn

Meridithe Mendelsohn was super smart, powerful, determined, committed to bringing an awareness of quality patient cancer care for all people, and she was my friend.

We met in 2009 for a conversation that was supposed to last 30 minutes and spent two hours together. From that time on, we began to create programs and classes for providers of psychosocial oncology care. Meridithe brought a strong, articulate leadership to our partnership while I would address the emotional issues and needs of those who work in the difficult and meaningful area of cancer care. It was an alive and engaged partnership and I will miss her. Meridithe was an excellent cook, indeed, a chef! She created healthy gourmet meals out of the best ingredients and made a killer brownie. She was an accomplished artist and craftsperson.

Her contributions to cancer care will be remembered by all of us. The world has lost a deeply caring woman who gave 100% all the way to the end of her life.

WHO IS A “CANCER SURVIVOR”?
A person is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis until the time of death. We use the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s “functional definition”, which considers survivors to be “those individuals who have completed treatment or those who have transitioned to prophylactic therapy”.
