Heading Into Fall: Moving Through and Beyond
I’ve been observing others while noting my own experience of cancer. We seem to have our own unique path that we follow. Not only are there many, many types of cancer but our personal biology dictates what comes next. We rely on our medical teams for their expertise in treating our respective disease but there are choices we can make, particularly in terms of diet, exercise, and emotional health. Finding support for the choices I make feels right to me. I prefer local resources so I can participate in meetups and hear about providers in my community that may be helpful to me. For example, my treatments have left me with the gift of neuropathy in both of my feet. I found out about a local acupuncturist that is a wizard when it comes to treating this condition. I connected with them through one of my local sources. Something to celebrate, surely. Many of us have long and short term side effects as a result of treatment. Our quality of life continues to be significantly affected. One of the things I learned from Covid was how much I depend on being in the world with others. It was fortunate that we could stay in touch with online programs, but it’s not the same as in person. I am sure you would agree.
Where does that leave us? Now we have the luxury of in person resources as well as the treasure trove of online information. Check out the resources we have shared here and see what you might find. Explore what’s available in your community and share with others when you have the opportunity.
Regards from your fellow resource seeker.
